As we gain momentum in the new year, we continue to prioritize our core value of ensuring the safety of our teammates, our clients’ employees, and our communities. Building on the foundation established with the Azuga program, we are implementing a new vehicle safety policy and have enlisted the help of Holman, leaders in fleet safety guidance.
CWS Vehicle Safety Policy:
We are introducing a more detailed and comprehensive Vehicle Safety Policy to give drivers additional clarity on expectations for those who operate company vehicles. The policy will also provide managers and supervisors better direction in promoting safe driving habits.
Some highlights of the new policy include, among others,
A requirement for a weekly vehicle inspection, which will live in KPA.
The introduction of a new requirement that a safety cone must be placed at the front and rear of a vehicle when employees are conducting roadside work. This guarantees a “walkaround” of the vehicle, allowing the employee to spot any potential hazards or obstructions.
Introduction of a “Back-In Requirement”, requiring all employees to back into parking spaces (unless prohibited).
Holman Safety Program:
We are pleased to announce a partnership with Holman to implement a new safety program! This program will include aspects such as Training, MVR Monitoring, and a Driver Scorecard.
Holman will provide initial safety assessments for each of our drivers, and based on those results, they offer interactive training modules covering a range of topics including driving distractions, vehicle backing safety, towing, trailers and more.
They also will provide driver motor vehicle records monitoring on a routine basis (varies by state) and any MVR activity will allow us to identify applicable training.
In addition to the Scorecard that is provided by Azuga, Holman will generate a Scorecard based on accidents, MVRs, violations, and training completion.
Employees who are company drivers will be receiving an email in the coming days with detailed information about the Holman Safety Program, and how to login and access their accounts.
Our goal and purpose behind the updated Vehicle Safety Policy and the Holman Safety Program is to reduce the occurrence of motor vehicle incidents which will help ensure the safety of all CWS employees while minimizing unnecessary costs associated with those incidents.
Thank you all for your diligence and stay tuned for more details!
