Swainsboro Team Assists with City’s Weekend Festival

For the 78th year, people from across the US converged on Swainsboro, GA to celebrate the annual Pine Tree Festival & Southeast GA Timber Expo – an event which began as a way to call attention to the high number of forest fires occurring in the County.  And the CWS team was there to support the entire event!

While the number of forest fires eventually diminished because of this awareness, the yearly festival continued in an effort to celebrate the value of the pine tree.  In 2008, the festival was expanded to include the “Southeast Georgia Timber Exposition”.  Today the festival attracts thousands of locals, as well as visitors, who come to enjoy the activities, parades, concerts, and vendor booths.

THANK YOU to all of the CWS employees who assisted in various ways before the event and throughout the weekend. They worked diligently closing roads and barricading streets for Friday night concerts, moving stages and bleachers for seating, picking up trash, closing roads and providing DOT detouring traffic for Saturday’s parade, serving as Event Staff for both days, and assisting with shuttling the elderly to and from the parade route.  CWS even had a booth set up to hand out bottled waters, frisbees, and sunglasses.  Our team’s support and service played a significant role in the success of the event…and this was on top of handling their usual workload. We appreciate everyone who gave of their time to serve the City of Swainsboro in this effort.
