Hall County Breaks Ground on Expansion of Water Reclamation Facility

The long-anticipated expansion of the Spout Springs Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) is officially underway following a groundbreaking ceremony held on Wednesday, April 2. The $21 million project will significantly enhance the facility’s capacity and infrastructure to meet the growing needs of Hall County.

The comprehensive improvements package includes the installation of a new ultraviolet light disinfection system, a new aerobic digester, a water booster pumping system, upgraded filters, and a vacuum truck receiving station. The expansion adds a basin to the Aqua Aerobic system and will expand the existing basins.  Once complete, the facility’s wastewater treatment capacity will more than double—from 750,000 gallons per day to 1.6 million gallons per day. Completion is expected in 2026.

Matt Collins, Project Manager for ClearWater Solutions (CWS), attended the groundbreaking and stated, “This is an exciting time for the Hall County administration, the community, and our company.  The County has seen tremendous growth over the last decade, and without this expansion, the current system wouldn’t be able to keep up with future demands. These upgrades will ensure the County can continue to serve its residents for many years to come.”

ClearWater Solutions has been delivering operations and maintenance services for the Spout Springs WRF since 2016. In addition to these ongoing responsibilities, the CWS team supported engineers during the design and data collection phases of the expansion project and will continue operating the facility throughout the construction period.
