CWS recently expanded the public sector work in Florida with the award of an O&M contract to serve the Town of Pierson, Florida. Located in Volusia County, the Town consists of just over 1,500 residents.
The scope of services includes the operation of two water treatment plants, equipment, and associated facilities including the operation of pumps, chlorine equipment, collecting water samples for laboratory analysis, taking and recording of meter readings at regular intervals, and controlling the addition of water treatment chemicals to the raw water. CWS will provide monitoring, maintenance, and the proper surveillance of all potable water plant processes, equipment, and controls to ensure efficient operation of the plant and compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws, and ordinances and regulations.
“We are excited to add the Pierson, FL project to our client base,” said Dana Hill, VP Operations. “The Town’s administration understands the importance of clean, safe drinking water and they are making the investment into ensuring that for their community.”
“The Town has an older water plant with two wells and a 2500 Gallon Hydropneumatic Tank (HPT) that feeds the system, in addition to its 265,000-gallon elevated storage tank. They recently completed the construction of a new state-of-the-art Water Treatment Plant with two new wells, Aeration trays for Hydrogen Sulfide removal, two 15 horsepower High Service Pumps (HSP), and a CL2 Skid with two diaphragm style Chlorinators. CWS has been hired by the Engineering/Construction company to pull clearance samples on both new wells and all of the equipment so that it can be properly brought online. “The plant isn’t quite online, but should be active in the coming weeks, once our team is in place for the startup and training on the new plant.” Dana went onto say that the plan is to keep both plants online and running, set to alternate on a set schedule based off pressure needs. The Town will have a total of four wells in service when the new plant goes online.
The Town of Pierson project will begin in early 2025 with one operator. The operator will add this new project to his list of daily visits. CWS is prepared with Maintenance and Construction teams as needed, and will be managed by Keanu Wadhams.
