As stated in Chris Edward’s (CWS Director of IT) email last week, there is an increasing sophistication of cyber threats, so it’s important that we remain vigilant and proactive, safeguarding CWS data and systems. Email is one of the most common entry points for cyber attacks, so it’s important that we all take responsibility for maintaining the security of our email accounts and the information they contain.

Here are some tips to remember to enhance our email security:

• Be cautious of suspicious emails: Exercise caution when opening emails from unknown senders or unexpected sources. Look out for spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and unusual requests or attachments, as these could be indicators of phishing attempts.

• Verify sender identities: Before responding to or clicking on any links in an email, verify the sender’s identity. If you’re unsure about the legitimacy of an email, reach out to the supposed sender through a separate communication channel to confirm its authenticity.

• Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments: Refrain from clicking on links or downloading attachments from unfamiliar or suspicious emails. These could contain malware designed to compromise your device or steal sensitive information.
